Hi, could you help me, please?

Our wedding will be in the evening, with the ceremony held at sunset.
Our ceremony venue is a victorian-looking chapel, not a cathedral church.
Our reception is a ballroom but not the "grand" ballroom.
We will be having fifty guests.
The food is…I don’t know? Semi-formal? We are paying for the finest beef and top shelf alcohol but are not having lobster or anything. The meal is to keep guests happy but will be served simply.
Guests will be attending in their Sunday Best, which will still be elegant but we want them to be comfortable.
Overall, we want something playful, but still formal enough to show respect to our elders.

So…what sort of dress would fit this venue? I’m a young lady with an eye for a ballgown, but I’m not sure if our wedding is suited for one? Are they for large guest list, black tie only? What traits make a dress "semi-formal" besides a chapel train? Is a semi-formal dress allowed to have beaded lace? Some sparkle? I don’t want to look like a fool. I have a beautiful dream of wearing an Eve of Milady gown but they look formal only. At the risk of sounding like a starry eyed child, I would like to look like a "princess" for one day…without embarrassing myself, that is.

Some facts about me.
I’m twenty-three years old.
My apprehensive nature is entirely on me. Our families and friends have been supportive of every decision.
We are paying for our own wedding, so no one besides my fiance has any "say"(suggestions are welcome; strong-arming is not) to what I wear.
My fiance is completely biased and thinks I’ll look good in anything, but has requested something "fluffy".

So…what do you think? Too formal? If not Eve of Milady, what dress would fit this venue, and be "fluffy"?
Help?
Just to clarify. We’re not having a Victorian themed wedding. We’re not really having a "theme" at all, just having things we like but want them to go well together. Thank you, though!

So…this is not too formal? I love it this but is this a black tie dress only?

http://bios.weddingbee.com/pics/101438/A_5.JPG

What about these?

http://dpnak.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/eve.gif

Are any of these appropriate? I’d be covering my shoulders for the ceremony.

so my wedding is a black tie victorian themed event. you know, pearls, red roses, bride white and champagne colors. I love the whole elegant, victorian vibe. Howver, I also love things that are fun, so I was thinking that for my reception, It could be themed as this black tie masquerade! masquerades are super fun and sexy, and romantic. My only concern is that it would be difficult to make the transition from victorian wedding to masquerade. I also don’t want a costume/freaky mask masquerade, I want an old fashioned ball gowned elegant one. what do you think?
thank you all for the answers! i just want to clarify, the dress code for the wedding is black tie, so the guest wouldnt have to change, as they would already have on the appropriate clothing. I plan on keeping the masquerade elegant, and not costume like or theatrical, or over the top. My only concern is that it does not clash with the ambiance of the wedding. comments?

My fiance and I have decided we’re actually going to get married – we originally decided we would just get engaged and have a long engagement without actually intending to get married to keep his mother off our backs as she constantly went on and on about how we should get married.
Well I’ve wanted to get married in my late mum’s wedding dress for quite a while but many people including my fiance and father think I should get married in a different dress. My mum’s dress is old, it’s much older than she was because it’s made up of bits of my great grandmother’s dress, my grand mother’s dress and some new silk (well it was new at the time). Some parts of the dress are over 100 years old. It’s got sleeves made of victorian lace, and it’s close fitting at the top but the skirt puffs out a little at the hips. It’s really odd dress compared to many dresses you see these days. It’s not even pure white as it used to be because my father didn’t store it properly.

Should I get married in the dress or just buy my own new one?

I’m throwing a debutante ball sometime next year in the Philippines, I live in California which is why I’m planning things waaay ahead of time.

I was wondering if anyone knows some good themes that go along with the vision I have for my debut? Because I don’t wanna just throw a debutante ball without like an official theme to it, I wanna stick to the elegant and upscale feel of debutante balls like how they are supposed to be, I just want a theme to go along with it.

Keep in mind:
- I want things to be really elegant, like chandeliers and my gown being long and white almost wedding-like with a train.
- There will be give or take 150-200 guests
- It’s a semi-formal event
- My venue has a sort of lace and chandeliers design and sort of Victorian feel to it, it has lots of gold and white molding accents and the entire venue itself is pure white except for some of those gold moldings
- I also want the guests to be wowed and something that will have such an upscale and elegant (nothing else to describe it) atmosphere to it, something people won’t easily forget.
- I’ve thought of winter wonderland, Parisian or Shakespearean theme, but what else is there?
